Multnomah County's D2 Commissioner Shannon Singleton is teaming up with Portland City Council President (and City D2 Councilor) Elana Pirtle-Guiney for a community conversation to recap the budget process. The County Board of Commissioners approved a $4 billion budget, and the Portland City Council approved an $8.2 billion budget. You will hear about what our goals were, our priorities, the shortfalls, and next steps. Refreshments will be provided. Please use the RSVP link.

Summer Free for All - Movie at Kʰunamokwst Park
Head to Kʰunamokwst Park for a movie night in the park hosted by NAYA in partnership with Summer Free For All!
This year’s movie is the documentary “Bring Them Home.” As a special treat, directors Ivy and Ivan MacDonald will be at the event to host a pre-show Q&A!
Local performances will begin at 7 PM with a raffle to follow. The movie will show promptly at sunset. Limited free food and drinks!

Cully Association of Neighbors Land Use/Transportation Meeting
Winston Sandino, Capital Project Manager for the Portland Bureau of Transportation, will join us to discuss a major project in Cully. Starting August 4, PBOT will close the 42nd Ave bridge over Lombard St for approximately two years. PBOT will replace the old bridge with an earthquake-safe span.
The new bridge will accommodate heavier freight traffic and provide greatly improved paths for pedestrians and cyclists.
The project will cause significant traffic detours for anyone who uses NE 42nd Ave to travel between Cully and Columbia Blvd. The project will also displace several mature trees at the International Grove, a volunteer-planted collection of trees near the south end of the bridge.
Winston will present a project overview and take your questions on traffic impacts, the construction process, and more.
Arrive at 6:00 pm for meet and greet with your neighbors and CAN board members. The official meeting starts at 6:30 pm. We look forward to seeing you!

Cully Farms and Gardens Bike Ride
Celebrate the numerous Cully farms and gardens on July 19th 10a-2p on a bike ride through Cully. Visit some of the amazing urban farms that the Cully neighborhood is famous for! Learn about regenerative agricultural practices, classes, volunteer opportunities, and Community Supported Agriculture. Some farmers and farm educators will lead us on tours of their beautiful sites. Social pace, flat route, kids welcome. Not a loop but end point is about one mile from start. There will be some access to drinking water (BYOB) and bathrooms during the ride. New To Portland Northeast Ride
Are you new to town, or new to cycling in Portland? Want to explore some of the best low-stress bike routes in Roseway, Cully and Concordia? Then join our New to Portland ride on Wednesday, July 16
We will gather at Wellington Park (6635 NE Mason St) at 5:30 p.m. and the ride will start at 6:00 p.m. The ride will end in the same spot. The park is just a few blocks from TriMet lines 71, 24 and 12.
This ride will highlight the Holman-Simpson neighborhood greenway and the Shaver-Mason neighborhood greenway currently under construction.There will be a climb, there will be some paths with gravel, there will be a stop for refreshments and socializing at the end and there will be bike fun.
This is a moderate-pace, no drop ride, and will be approximately 7.3 miles. This event is free and open to everyone.

Portland Sunday Parkways presented by Kaiser Permanente will return to the Northeast Cully Portland route on June 29, 2025. Join the community for a fun-filled day of family-friendly activities and the opportunity to explore the beautiful Northeast Cully neighborhood!
Participants are welcome to join the Northeast Cully Portland route at any point and head in any direction. This event route is designed to highlight the network of neighborhood greenways and other infrastructure, parks, and community resources. There will be areas along the route and at the featured parks where circulation slows for vendor marketplaces, community booths, free family-friendly activities, and live entertainment.

Juneteenth 2025
Juneteenth for the year 2025 is celebrated/ observed on Thursday, June 19.
Juneteenth is observed on June 19 each year commemorating the emancipation of the enslaved African Americans back in 1865. President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law on June 17, 2021
Back on January 1st 1863 then President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation outlawing slavery in the original confederate states. On June 19th, 1865 Union Army general Gordon Granger under the General Order No. 3 enforced the freedom of enslaved people in the last held out state in the confederacy, Texas.

Juneteenth Work Party for Rigler School
Rigler School Rigler School needs our help. Weeds have overtaken the main front bed where people walk into the school and our teachers and students deserve something better. Apparently, the school send a cleanup crew in August which is well after weeds will have gone to seed. And there is a work party usually just before school opens but this work needs to be done now! Can you spare a couple of hours on Juneteenth to get together with neighbors and get this done?
Rigler Work Party Thurs June 19th 8:30-10:30 Meet at Rigler front parking area.
What we will be doing: Laying cardboard on the planting bed in front of the school, then laying 3 inches of chips on top of that. Remove remaining weeds as able from around the plants. And that’s it! Easy peasy, lemon squeezy What to bring: Shovels, rakes, gloves wheelbarrows and buckets if you have them

Beautify 42nd Ave with Cully Strength
From 9-5pm, we will be providing pressure washers, weed whackers, and mulch to clean up a portion of 42nd Ave between Emerson and Alberta. Volunteers can check in at Cully Strength and we can beautify the green spaces, trim the weeds, and pressure walk the sidewalk. This event is all about taking pride in our community and taking ownership of our walkways! We will be hosting a summer party the weekend after to raise money for the Oregon food bank and celebrate our volunteers, also at Cully Strength, at 3pm on June 14th. Northeast Cully Neighborhood Bike Fair
The Cully Neighborhood Bike Fair at Rigler Elementary is a free family-friendly event!
Where: Rigler Elementary School, 5401 NE Prescott St, Portland OR 97218
When: Friday, June 6, 2024, 2:45 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.
Activities are FREE and there’s something for everyone, including:
Biking lessons for children with activities to learn about bike safety skills
Learn-to-ride coaching for adults and children just starting out on a bike
Quick-fix Bike Repair to make sure your bike is rolling smoothly and safely
Helmet fitting to make sure you're protected
Participants are welcome to bring their own bikes. There will be bikes of various sizes available for children and adults to borrow for the Learn to Ride clinic.
This event is hosted in partnership with the Rigler and Scott Elementary Parent Teacher Associations and Community Cycling Center.

Cycle the Well Field - Columbia Slough Watershed Council
Join Columbia Slough Watershed Council and the Portland Water Bureau for a free 17 mile bike ride through Portland's Columbia South Shore Well Field! Experts from the Portland Water Bureau and Columbia Slough Watershed Council will lead this moderately paced and scenic trip. Our group will be making frequent stops to break up the ride and offer opportunities for conversation about how groundwater provides flexibility and reliability to the City’s water supply, and how we can all protect this important resource.
