Portland Bureau of Transportation plans to start construction on the Killingsworth Street Repaving and Safety Improvements project next week. PBOT plans to repave on Sept 26 and 27 from 7 am to noon, but construction is dependent on weather. Next week’s construction covers NE Killingsworth St from NE 53rd Ave to NE Cully Blvd.
The full project includes safety improvements: lighting, improved crossings, and parking-protected bike lanes. PBOT has delayed the safety improvements to spring 2024 because of earlier than expected rainy weather. PBOT’s project manager is confident that safety improvements will proceed in spring 2025. Only repaving of the car travel lanes will proceed in September 2024.
