Hello Central Northeast Neighborhoods and Friends,
Central Northeast Neighbors is rounding up a group of people to work together to find real and creative solutions to homelessness. We are looking for 2-3 representatives from each of our neighborhood associations. These individuals would be committing to becoming part of a group that shall have 2 main purposes;
1) to educate ourselves about what exists in Portland, what works and what doesn’t work
2) to come up with ideas that could be a change. Real Ideas.
For example, would it be possible to search and identify properties in our neighborhoods that could be purchased by agencies with the city’s help and, with some repairs, be turned into housing for an attempt at dissolving the homeless condition?
Or, would it be building new, with help of architecture students? (It’s just that in winter weather, I would not like so much having to go outside my “home” to take care of bodily functions.)
We are looking for people who are willing to participate, bring ideas and share information. We may have assignments, articles to read, research to do and speakers to ask questions of. After we collect and whittle down our ideas, we should be able to get some press and discuss.
The date for this first meeting is Wednesday March 21, 2018 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at Central Northeast Neighbors, 4415 NE 87th.
Please send the names and contact info for your neighborhood reps to CNN by March 16th. Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to meeting with you on March 21st. Feel free to call us with any questions 503-823-3156.
Regards,
Alison
